Check your tires regularly, as well as your head and rear lights, including brake lights and indicators. If you experience severe weather where you live, ensure that you have the appropriate tires on your car. Icy and rainy conditions can be extremely hazardous, so you want to make sure that your car will keep you as safe as possible in different weather conditions.

As a a car owner, car safety for you and your passengers should be a top priority and making sure that your car is in good working order and safe is your responsibility.

If you have small children traveling in your car, ensure that they have a car seat that is size appropriate for them, and fitted correctly in your car. Badly installed child seats have led to many fatalities and thus correct installation is of paramount importance.

We urge you not to drink and drive. Thousands of lives are lost every year through drinking and driving incidents, so just don't do it!

Always drive with due care, especially when driving in bad weather conditions. Lives are lost when people drive over the speed limit.

Passenger tips: As a passenger there are several things you can do to make our trip safer.

If you have small children, and are traveling in someone else's car, make sure your children travel in their car seat that is correctly installed. If you don't have your child's car seat, don't travel until you have it! Putting a child at risk, by not strapping them into a size appropriate seat is a risk never worth taking.

Ensure that the car you are riding in is being driven safely. Never get into a car with a driver under the influence of alcohol.
