Pool Safety Is Important To Consider!

On a hot day, there's nothing more inviting to a child than a cool, blue pool. But even if a child can swim, pool safety isn't a given. There are lots of pool safety tips that can help you keep your kids, visitors... and anyone who uses your pool safe.

Pool safety is no joke

When you get a pool, you also need certain things to prevent accidents and things to help in the event of an accident. One of the best ways to prevent accidents is to install a pool fence around the perimeter of the pool with a locked gate. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, "the fence should prevent a child from getting over under or through to gain access the the pool." That way small children cannot get to the pool and intruders who want to take a swim can't get in. Most of today's pool fences are made of a transparent mesh material that kids can't climb.

You can even go so far as to install an alarm that will alert you when someone is in the pool area when they shouldn't be. (This can include your children or uninvited guests, and it can also be used as a home safety device.) Here are some other pool safety tips:

When you have a pool, you need to be sure that everyone understands the pool rules. Put up a sign posting these rules, and explain they're pool safety rules to keep everyone safe while swimming.
