	<title>Fire Safety Products</title>
	<description>
Some fire safety products that can save your life are smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. These fire safety products are must-haves for every home. But there's something even better than fire safety products--the knowledge to prevent fires from starting in the first place.

Fire Safety Products in Your Home
The most important fire safety products you can have are smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. You should have a working smoke detector in every room of your house. They cost around $7-$10 each, which is relatively low considering that they can save your life or the life of a family member. They are easy to install and easy to care for too. Simply change the batteries once a year and keep it dust-free. There's really no excuse not to have an adequate number of working smoke detectors in your home.

In addition to smoke detectors, you need a good, multi-class fire extinguisher. A multi-class fire extinguisher means it will put out fires started by paper or wood (Class A) and grease or other flammable liquids (Class B). Some multi-class fire extinguishers can even put out electrical fires. In addition, you want to be sure your fire extinguisher is a dry chemical type. This puts out fires started by wood, paper, grease and other flammable household liquids.

If you live in a house that has bedrooms on the second floor, it might be a good idea to have a fire escape ladder. This will ensure fire safety for those in the bedrooms if the fire is in the hall. Just be sure that your whole family knows how to use these fire safety products and drive home the point that they are only to be used in the event of a fire.

Obviously, if you know the rules of candle safety, BBQ safety kitchen safety and even garage safety, chances are you know enough to prevent a fire, and that's the best fire safety tool of all.

Other Safety Products to Consider
Other home safety products will depend on the age of the children in your family. If your children are baby or toddler age, you might need child safety products like baby gates, cabinet and drawer locks, table edge and corner covers and outlet covers. These safety products make your home a safer place for your child. To learn more about the steps you should take in your home to prevent fires, consider taking part in a few of the fire safety week events going on in your town.
