	<description>
You might think you know all you need to know about BBQ safety and grilling out. But why don't you review this page, just to make sure. In addition to that, contact your local authorities and find out what kinds of fun events are going on in your town during fire safety week!

BBQ Safety Tips
Some of the BBQ safety tips we'll share on this page may be pretty obvious to you, but there are some you might not know about or you might not have thought about until now. The following tips apply to both gas barbeques and charcoal barbeques:

BBQ Safety Tip #1: If you have a gas grill, make sure the connections from the propane tank to the grill are tight. You can do this by spraying water on the connections. If bubbling occurs, the connection is not tight.

BBQ Safety #2: If you have a gas grill, use poreclain rocks instead of lava rocks. Lava rocks are porous and can hold grease which can catch fire at worse and make for an uneven heating surface at best.

BBQ Safety Tip #3: If you have a charcoal grill, don't dispose of the ashes when they're hot.

BBQ Safety Tip #4: Never leave your grill unattended.

BBQ Safety Tip #5: Open the grill lid before you light it.

BBQ Safety Tip #6: Make sure you use the grill 10 feet away from your house.

BBQ Safety Tip #7: Don't light a grill on a wooden deck. Even if you do and nothing happens, the grill could tip over later when you're inside, and if the ashes are still hot, it could cause a fire. Many apartments have been destroyed due to this very thing.

BBQ Safety Tip #8: Keep the grill and the grill lighter away from children.

BBQ Safety Tip #9: When you turn off a gas grill, remember to turn off the propane tank too.

BBQ Safety Tip #10: If you're using a charcoal grill, let lighter fluid soak into the coals a few minutes before lighting them so that any vapors have time to evaporate. When you do light the coals, stand back.

BBQ Safety Tip #11: For fire safety purposes, keep a spray bottle or bucket of water nearby in case the grill fire gets out of control.

BBQ Safety Tip #12: For purposes of garage safety and home safety, don't light your grill inside the garage, even if the door is open.

If you follow these tips for barbeque safety, you should have a successful grilling experience. Hope it's tasty!
